Postural Assessment

What improving your posture can do for you?

  • Reduces physical stress because the muscles can support joint movement with less effort, thereby muscles are less tired and strained. Long term bad posture can cause skeletal problems throughout the body. Muscles become weak, tired and strained.
  • Mental stress can also be reduced because the body is using less energy on supporting the posture, thereby increasing the energy available. Bad posture can cause a reduction blood flow to the brain potentially causing some memory loss.
  • Increases energy levels allowing more oxygen into the lungs. This will encourage deeper breathing encouraging the nervous system to give a calming feel good affect.
  • Reduce the possibility of nerve impingement in the joints and in the back, avoiding nerve pain.

What happens in a session?

  • A consultation noting ALL medical conditions, historical and current, mental and physical.
  • A full discussion about the problem(s) and how we can proceed. Also discussing what to expect after the session. Massage, Craniosacral Therapy and/or Myofascial release will be incorporated into the session.
  • Fully clothed, the session will take about 1 hour.
  • Assessment of posture from the front, back and both right and left side-view standing and maybe sitting.
  • Adjustments to the posture will be made and discussed. Therapy may be required to adjust and release tight muscles and fascia to help alleviate the postural imbalance.
  • Exercises, stretches and strengthening may be given, along with advice about body health and wellbeing.

This is not to replace medication, or other therapies you may be having to help with your situation.
